I’m bringing The Mayfly Project to Nevada because I would like to help the sport of fly fishing grow in my community, and teach the next generation about fly fishing! Fly fishing is not only good for kids in foster care to experience, but they will learn how they can make an impact on their local waters and community.
Project Mentors

MICHELLE LOPEZ, MENTOR
Las Vegas, Nevada
A San Diego native, Michelle is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara, where she received her bachelor’s degree in environmental science and Education. During college, Michelle spent her time making the community eco-friendlier and fighting food insecurity. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach, hiking, and appreciating the sunshine. Michelle is excited to not only be a Mayfly Project mentor, but to show the importance of being outdoors and appreciating the environment!

JEFF KING, MENTOR
Las Vegas, Nevada
I was born and raised in Southern California, and I moved to southern Nevada over 2 decades ago. I was a chef on the Vegas strip for over 10 years. Through the influence of my Finnish uncle, I learned how to fly fish in our local ponds, Lake Mojave and Lake Mead. I am proud to be a mentor for The Mayfly Project, I really try to be of service in our community. If we all did one kind deed a day, we would change the world to a better place in no time.

JASON DUVANIEWICZ, MENTOR
Henderson, Nevada
Hello, I’m Jason Dubaniewicz and a US Navy retiree. I was born in Yokosuka, Japan into a military family and grew up in various states throughout the east and west of US. I am married with three grown children and one grandson. Upon retiring in 2017, I moved back to Las Vegas where I have resided since. My hobbies include fishing, fly tying, camping, cooking, photography, reading (history/politics), and involvement of veteran organizations. I am an avid fan of football, hockey, and soccer. I also love to travel and explore new places and and of course take a fishing rod with me on my adventures.
