Traverse City, Michigan Project

Northern Michigan has an incredible amount of public and easily accessible streams/lakes, so we hope that by introducing local foster care children to fly fishing they’ll easily be able to turn this into a hobby they can do on their own.

Fly fishing and kids have been my passions for years. I started fly fishing in western Pennsylvania around age 10 with my grandfather. I still remember the first time he tied on a fly for me.
I was involved with Big Brothers/ Big Sisters 36 years ago. I’ve had 4 little brothers. My first one and I met up recently after 30+ years. My work history involved electronics and grew to automation controls. I then switched to safety management in industrial settings and consulting. I’m married to the love of my life, 2 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. We have a 2 year old border collie, Bella.
We live in a cabin close to the ausable and Manistee river systems.

From Foster Care to Fly Fishing, Meet Mentor, Breezy Johnston

Breezy Johnston, mentor for Pikes Peak, CO project, talks about life in foster care and how fly fishing has become her home-base. We are thrilled to have Breezy joining our team and are so thankful for her willingness to share. We are inspired by folks who have been through the trenches and have found their niche in the world!
