“As a local science teacher, I feel this is a great opportunity to help out foster students with access to mentors through TMP, Trout Unlimited, and my connections with school pupil services. The Driftless area is easily accessible to the public and the fishing is excellent. I can’t imagine a better place to take beginners out!”

KURT MEYER, LEAD MENTOR

Fennimore, Wisconsin

Kurt resides in the heart of the Driftless region in Southwest Wisconsin.  He has been fly fishing for over twenty years.  Kurt is the youth coordinator and board member for the Harry and Laura Nohr Chapter of Trout Unlimited.  He is a middle school math and science teacher.  His hobbies include of course fishing, cooking, golf, and watching his kids play sports.  Kurt is married and has two daughters ages nine and eleven.

FRANK NARDOMARINO, MENTOR

Grayslake, Illinois

I grew up in Illinois and have had a fly rod in my hand for over 30 years. I’m currently a Fire Battalion Chief and a Paramedic and spend most of my days off fishing. I went to a fly fishing guide school in Colorado and guided the Southwest region of Wisconsin for years. Being on the rivers is one of the greatest feelings I can imagine and sharing it with others is even better.

CAROL MURPHY, MENTOR

Dodgeville, Wisconsin

I have been blessed to grow up and live in the beautiful Driftless region of Southwest Wisconsin. Many of my hours are spent splashing through streams, venturing on wooded trails and up rock outcroppings. My hobbies include hiking, fly fishing, kayaking and all things outdoors. I am the Diversity and Inclusion Initiative lead, Water Action Volunteer coordinator and board member for the Harry and Laura Nohr Chapter of Trout Unlimited. When not outside, I work as a Library Assistant and tech advisor at our local library. I have two grown children, two fabulous grand girls and a Boykin Spaniel pup named Jordy who is always at my side.

SUSAN JESTER, MENTOR

Racine, Wisconsin

Growing up in a family that liked to camp in local Milwaukee area campgrounds I could be found fishing their manmade ponds with a bobber and worms. But fishing days gave way to years of academics and a career as an Oncology Researcher. But from the moment I watched “A River Runs Through It”, a passion for the genre of fly fishing was ignited. Now I am a board member for Southeast Wisconsin Trout Unlimited and the Diversity and Inclusion Initiative lead. I also serve on the Root River Council Board of Directors as a resource for fishing and I am a founding member of Driftless Women on the Fly. A new organization supporting and developing women fly anglers.  My husband and I have 2 beautiful daughters that are away at college and a weekend home in the Wisconsin Driftless. I can’t forget to mention Reggie our13 year old Maltese and Bentley our 2-year-old Labradoodle.

JEREMY HENNING, MENTOR

Madison, Wisconsin

I love being an outdoorsperson and exploring my home state, Wisconsin. Professionally I am public school music teacher and musician; the peace I find fly-fishing provides some much-needed balance. During my free time I’m usually exploring water in the Driftless region and Wisconsin’s Northwoods. My wife and I have two wonderful cats and the sweetest dog we could ever want. I get a lot of inspiration from working with young people, and excited for this opportunity to help them discover their own passion for the outdoors.
