This is why I believe The Mayfly Project is so important: “The more relationships a child has the more likely they will be to recover from trauma and thrive. Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love.” Dr. Bruce Perry

I’m a lifelong angler who grew up inshore fishing off the coast with my dad and now chases Idaho’s rivers every chance I get. Sharing the excitement of catching fish with kids keeps me energized for the next fishing adventure. I live in Boise with my wife, two kids, and two dogs who tag along to riverbank or lakeside as much as possible. When I’m not on the water, you’ll may find me mapping my next personal outing or sharing stories with friends who believe, like I do, that time outside can change a life.
Brent Frame, Co- Lead Mentor
I moved to Boise in 2019. I’ve spent most of my life enjoying the outdoors through camping, boating, fishing and hunting. My passion for outdoor recreation is matched by my commitment to coaching and mentoring youth. Before joining The Mayfly Project, I dedicated over a decade to coaching and volunteering with Little League Baseball, where I found joy in helping kids grow through sports. Now, I’m excited to combine my love for nature and working with youth by mentoring foster children through fly fishing. I believe in the power of the outdoors to heal, connect, and inspire the next generation. I also believe that being a positive roll model, however brief, can have a lifetime impact on a child.

Kimberly Cordero, Previous Lead Mentor
Kimberly has lived in Boise, ID the majority of her life and enjoys the many opportunities to engage in outdoor activities with her husband, son, and two big dogs. She obtained her undergraduate degree in sociology from Black Hills State University and obtained her master’s degree in social work from Northwest Nazarene University. While living in Custer, SD she was introduced to fly fishing and has been hooked ever since! For over two decades, Kimberly has worked alongside children and families involved with Child Welfare. In 2016 she transitioned to private practice as a mental health therapist and enjoys coming alongside others on their journey of healing and exploration. When The Mayfly Project came across her radar she knew she had to be part of their team! Kimberly continues to look forward to giving back to youth in foster care and helping them develop life skills, self-care and resiliency through The Mayfly Project.

Recently retired after 28 years in the Orthopedic device industry. Raised in Minnesota, moved to Boise, Idaho in 1985 to get out of Minnesota winters. Have been fly fishing over 40 years. With my recent retirement I have the time now to mentor young adults. Excited to be involved in The Mayfly Project.

From the streets of LA to a small, rural Idaho town. From Dodgers and Lakers to lake trout and German Browns. The talk of town went from 1992 LA Riots to 2008Fiesta Bowl wins. Juan’s pickup sports a USC and BSU stickers side by side. A California native that called Idaho home before it was cool.
His journey into fly fishing was typical: he started out dunking worms, moved on to spinners, and finally found himself with a fly rod in his hand. These days he spends his time teaching high schoolers, coaching wrestling, fostering teens, and fishing Idaho water. In reality, his arrival at the Boise Mayfly Project could have been predicted as it gives him the opportunity to combine his two passions of helping kiddos and fishing.

Idaho native who grew up in the outdoors, she’s explored rivers, mountains, and lakes all across the Pacific Northwest, and has even explored deep sea fishing in other countries. She’s newer to fly fishing but has really enjoyed learning the process of it and the peace of being out on the river. She spends lots of time outside with her dogs, and loves living so close to the mountains . She has firsthand experience of what it’s like in the foster care system, and is really looking forward to working with children as a mentor and helping them find some joy in being outside and building a relationship with the beautiful outdoors!

I grew up in Boise, Idaho, where my love for the outdoors was instilled at an early age. Fishing with my dad became a cherished tradition, sparking a lifelong passion for the outdoors. While I’ve spent time on the water casting a line, I’m always eager to learn more and improve my skills. Fly fishing, for me, is more than just catching fish—it’s about connection, patience, and the thrill of the perfect cast. Whether exploring new rivers or revisiting familiar streams, I’m always looking forward to the next adventure!

From backpacking, whitewater rafting, 100-mile bike trips, bird watching, gardening, raising chickens, to fly fishing-Kori loves to be outside. After an eight year career as a middle school physical education and health teacher, Kori’s skills as a teacher have never gone away. These days she loves to teach friends and family how to fly fish, tie flies, plan a backpack trip, and identify species of birds, plants, or insects. While she has only been fly fishing for about 6 years, she has fast-tracked her learning by fishing 50-100+ days a year. Kori is looking forward to being a mentor with the Mayfly Project to share her skills and passion for the outdoors and fly fishing.
Andie Schmitz, Mentor
Andie is an Eastern Washington and North Idaho native, from Spokane. She grew up enjoying every outdoor activity and occasionally fishing with her dad and brother on Priest Lake and the surrounding rivers. She moved to Colorado for college where she joined the CSU Flyfishing club senior year. CSUFFC brought many fun experiences and lasting friendships encouraging her to continue learning more about flyfishing. After college, Andie moved to Boise where she has been living life to the fullest since early 2023! As a retired camp counselor, Andie is passionate about working with kids and providing meaningful experiences in a safe outdoor environment. She can’t wait to be a mentor with the Boise Mayfly Project!

I live in Boise and recently got into fly fishing—it’s quickly become one of my favorite ways to connect with nature. I have two dogs who love joining me on camping trips, whether we’re exploring Idaho or adventuring across the country. I’m passionate about traveling the world, and when I’m home, I enjoy gardening, creating art, and experimenting with crock pot recipes. I’m excited to be part of The Mayfly Project and share the peace and joy that fly fishing brings.
